A couple of weeks ago we had a great drinks evening at the Old Brewery in Greenwich. There was a mixture of the old boys and a few new faces which is always a good mix. There is also a great range of ales on offer at the Old Brewery, especially when sampled in quadruple 1/3 pint measures in this kind of wooden paddle. Not so easy to accommodate a number of them on the table. But barely a drop was wasted mind you.
I had my own personal transport there and back thanks to Mike who gave me a lift on the front of his boxbike. It's a bit like something you might expect an old fashioned grocer's boy to be out delivering on. He normally uses it to take the kids around but as he is a super-fit cycling hero he was my personal taxi driver that night. We definitely got a lot of attention from the Friday night Greenwich crowd.
After a good evening's session Mike set off with a couple of us in the front and did a lap of honour before we ended up in a dodgy club - the least said about this the better for all concerned! - and then it was 'taxi!' most of my way home.
Nice to meet some new guys and have a few laughs on a Friday night. Our next drinks are this week at The Station Hotel in Hither Green, and then again on 7 November at The Crown in Blackheath.
