About usOur group started way back in the Summer of 2008 when Martin Hastings took over caring for his daughter Isabella full-time, and feared being cut off from male company and losing his sanity!
The group grew out of the local NCT branches Lewisham and Greenwich, but is open to all dads, male carers and fathers-to-be; whether NCT members or not. SE London Dads' initial growth and development was partially funded by a grant from Awards for All, and since 2010 we have been generously supported be the Co-operative Membership Community Fund. In 2010 as Martin was leaving London he handed over responsibility for running the group to a committee of dads whom Martin had brought together, now good friends. The group had a sixth anniversary family picnic in Greenwich Park in August 2014. Today we have over 175 dads on our contact list from all sorts of backgrounds, and we meet up regularly for fun and chats. We have a constantly-changing schedule of social events for dads and kids, including: * Regular weekly Stay and Play sessions * Frequent social events at someone’s house, or out and about * Free or subsidised courses, activities or excursions to local attractions We work closely with Fathers Outreach Co-ordinators at Greenwich and Lewisham councils so are able to refer you to other services and facilities locally.
